Scapelab, a Slovene architectural office, was awarded a contract in the international competition for the new Technology Centre ELES in Beričevo in 2000. The jury was convinced by their solution with a clearly developed town planning scheme that enables the centralisation of operations, the possibility for unhindered cooperation among all structures, rationalisation and accessibility. However, the outstanding spatial planning and functional design only represent a basis for good architecture. Established on this, creativity can develop in many diverse directions, only some of which lead to architecture. And in that Scapelab was convincing for the second time.
