The Grammar and Poetry of Architecture

Only one quarter of the imposing design for the new faculty building was actually realised, yet nonetheless the institution acquired a representative seat and reinforced the urban structure of the wider surroundings.

Fifteen years after its founding, the youngest faculty of Brno’s Masaryk University has increased in size fifteen times over the original number of students, hence the temporary spaces in the building of the former research institute (architect: Jan Dvořák, 1974-1987) ceased to suffice.
