Architectural magazine Piranesi is being published since 1992. Together with international conference Piran Days of Architecture, it is opening current topics about the culture of living. The magazine, which appears annually or biannually, is published by Ustanova Fundacija Piranesi, a non-profit foundation.

The iniciator, founder and first editor-in-chief of Piranesi was the architect Vojteh Ravnikar (1943–2010). The starting point for the journal was the Piran Days of Architecture, an international architectural conference which has been held in Piran on the last weekend in November every year since 1983. Linked to the event is the international award Piranesi, which is presented in Piranesi along with honourable mentions and the report of the award jury. Since 2011 the editor-in-chief of the magazine has been Robert Potokar, a member of the editorial board since 1999. Ever since its foundation the magazine has published contributions from authors in Slovenia and other countries in Europe.

The principal focus of Piranesi is Central Europe, which gives it a special place among European architectural magazines. For a number of years it has shared articles with prestigious architectural magazines such as Quaderns, L’architecture d’aujourd’hui, Baumeister, Il progetto, Oris, Zlatyrez, Architektur Aktuell, and others. In addition to this international cooperation, Piranesi has numerous foreign subscribers.
The structure of the magazine is based on five thematic sections. Architectural Icons sheds new light on relatively forgotten examples of high-quality twentieth-century architecture. Interview offers a detailed introduction to an architect and his work. The central part of the journal is dedicated to contemporary architectural production in Central Europe. Design covers examples of contemporary design. The last section of the journal contains reviews of books on architecture.
