Strictly Controlled Articulation of the Horizontal

The entirety of design solutions creates what is currently the most high quality and distinctive building type in a morphologically distinctly heterogeneous and rapidly changing part of Koper.

The Secondary Technical School is a convincing cornerstone of the functional restructuring of the urban profile of Šmarska cesta, which used to run through an industrial zone, into a central city arterial road with commercial and public buildings. An oblong three-part volume structure is positioned at the western edge of the plot, displaced as far as possible from the road by way of a green parterre. With centrally conceived access towards the school hall via slightly undulating grassed terrain surrounded by a dispersed structure of free-standing pine trees on the eastern edge, its composition is reminiscent of a contemporary city palace fronted by a park.
